About Me

Hey I'm Glòria. I am a designer based in Barcelona. I have two degrees, one in Design, and one in Engineering, but I also studied Illustration for some years. I have been leading design teams for quite a while, since I started in this industry 23+ years ago.

• I love drawing: in fact I was able to publish my first children's books a while ago.
• I love plants: my home is a small jungle, so the idea of having a digital garden made complete sense to me. AMA about propagation or plant caring.
• I love building things: I enjoy prototyping things and to try out concepts. I am not as good as I would like to be, but enough to make things work (like this site). I have some pet projects like a schools finder, or a site to know wether Hayao Miyazaki is retired or not.
• I discovered that I actually enjoy public speaking, and I got some gigs to talk about ethics in product and product design and essentially a reminder of why we're here. It comes almost natural to me, as it is a topic that is very close to my heart and that I think a lot about.
• I type incredibly fast, which involves many typos.
• Like Sophia Vergara, I'm smarter in Spanish than in English.
• My pet peeves are: white bros explaining things, entitled folks (especially FOSSBros), kitchen cupboards with their doors wide open, and when people write 'imho'.
• I don't believe in impostor syndrome as that means having a pathology. I do believe society is built to make us doubt ourselves and having extra pressure. I often times feel that I accidentally girl bossed too hard like most women in this industry, and that it's good to show our vulnerabilities regardless of the position we hold.
